About

Fırat Fm 87.3 is an independent Kurdish radio station operating under Fieb Media Group. Broadcasting from its studios at Saarstraße 12, 47058 Duisburg, Germany, Fırat FM brings Kurdish language, music, and culture to listeners worldwide.

The station began its journey in May 2006 in Van, Turkey, on the Flatcast platform, founded by four friends. With the slogan “The Radio of Hearts,” Fırat Fm initially streamed online, later moving to firatfmvan.com, and by late 2011, continued its broadcasts via firatfm.com, upgrading its digital infrastructure.

In 2013, Fırat Fm relocated to Germany, starting broadcasts in Duisburg on 88.9 MHz. After the lease for that frequency ended in 2015, the station—supported by the Kurdish community in Duisburg—secured its own 87.3 MHz frequency and broadcasting license. Since then, it has continued its transmissions on this new frequency.

Today, Fırat Fm 87.3 reaches listeners across Duisburg and surrounding areas via 87.3 MHz, and globally through its website, mobile apps, and Fieb Media Group’s digital platforms. Guided by the principle of “Deng û Awazên Kurdî” (“Voices and Sounds of Kurdistan”), the station broadcasts in Kurdish 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
